Empowering Women in Tech Leadership: Roundtable Discussion

On February 28th, Global Women TechLeaders and the Information and Communication Technology Commission hosted a landmark event at the Palace of the Parliament, titled "Empowering Women in Tech Leadership". This roundtable was a vibrant forum dedicated to championing gender equality and propelling women into leadership roles across STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

Leaders from academia, the public, and the private sectors came together in a deep dive into the challenges and opportunities that women in technology face today. Our collective goal? To unearth solutions and proposals that catalyze an ecosystem brimming with partnerships and projects. This initiative is about knitting a fabric of collaboration among non-profits, corporations, and academic institutions to share knowledge, resources, and best practices. All aimed at nurturing the growth and professional development of women in STEM.

Key Discussion Points:

  • Overcoming Barriers: Tackling the hurdles that obstruct women's paths to tech leadership.
  • Success Stories and Lessons: Celebrating the triumphs and sharing the wisdom of women who've clinched top spots in tech, both locally and globally.
  • Fostering Public-Private Partnerships: Delving into how joint efforts can advance gender equality in tech.
  • Innovative Policies: Debating policies and initiatives that could forge a more inclusive and fair tech environment.

The event was graced by keynote speakers including Monica Berescu (Deputy and Vice President of the ICT Commission), Simona Sandru, MBA, MCIM Chartered Marketer (President of Global Women TechLeaders), Doina Costache (Director at Google), Andreea Ionita (Chief Digital Officer at E.On), Oana Țoiu (Deputy), Raz van Hoinaru (The Academy of Economical Studies). I'm honored to have had the role of moderator of the event.

Thank you Gabriela Deleanu, Ilinca Vasilescu & Alexandra Turian for your invaluable contribution to making the event happen!

As we reflect on the discussions, let's pledge to not just envision but actively construct a future where gender equality in STEM is the norm, not the aspiration.
